To use google ads keyword planner for free you need a google account. I think already you have it. Now go to google.com and search google ads keyword planner or click here

Then sign in your google account.

 Then click on New google ads account.



Now you need to click on the switch to export mode which I am marked in the photo.



Then you need to wait a second. Then you will see create an account without campaign. Now click on this. 


Now you need to fill up this form and then click on submit button.


Now almost you are all done. Now click on Explore your account button.



Now click on tools and settings.



Then select planning  then click on keyword planner. 



Now you are all set and you will see like this


If I summarize the whole process then

1. Create a google account

3. 4. Then sign in > click on NEW GOOGLE ADS ACCOUNT > Swith to Export Mode > Create Without a campaign > submit

In this section, you will see two tools. 

1. Discover new keywords which help you to discover new keywords and reach the people

2. Get search volume and forecasts where you get search volume and other historical metrics, plus forecasts for how they could perform.


1. Discover new keywords

Now I am going to describe Discover new keywords

Basically, this tool is used for getting new keyword suggestions. After enter in this tool you will see two section. This tool I will describe in two parts. 

(i) Start with keywords

(ii) Start with a website


(i) Start with keywords

In this section you will see a box for inputting your keyword. Even you can input here ten keywords at a time. Then press enter you will see your keyword ideas from the google database respect to your keyword. Like if you search "Blog" then you will see many keywords related to the word "blog" that you see in the picture. Here google ads keyword planner shows 229 keyword ideas with respect to "blog". 

Again here you see another section name "Enter a site to filter unrelated keywords" here you can enter an website to get filter unrelated keywords.

(ii) Start with a website

This section is designed for Adwords users. But you can sometimes find a few solid keywords here using your website’s homepage or an article from your website.

Once you’ve entered your information into one (or all three) of the fields, click “Get Results”.

for both sections, not only this, you also see here more features. Here you can select the country which is your target. Like here I am targeting the United States but If you want to target another country then click here then you will see a search option you need to input your targated country name and then you will your targated country and you need to select it and click on save button. In the same way, you can change your targeted language. 

Again here you also see the search volume of your keyword. You can select here your range from which date to which date you want to see the search volume of your keyword.




But you must remember that your keyword ideas will show only this type what you input. So be careful about what you enter for the keyword ideas. 



2. Get search volume and forecasts
After hit on this tool, you will see a new page that you see below.


In this section, you will not see any keyword ideas but if you have a lot of keywords and you want to analyze them then you can use it. At first, you need to enter your keyword then hit on Get Started button. Then you will find your result. From here you can select many columns according to your need. 



Here exist Avg monthly searches,, Three month change, YOY change, competition, Ad impression share, Top page of bid (low range), Top page of bid (high range), Account Status, Competition (indexed value), Organic impression share, Organic average position. Now I am discussing all of this. 


Location: At first you need to choose your targeting location. After fixing it now you need to select this location from the google ads keyword planner. You can select more than one country at a time. Again if you want you can select only an area of a country. It fully depends on your targeting area. If you do not fix your targeting area then you cannot get the proper results. That's why at first you need fixed your location. 

Like if you want to know the search volume of the keyword "red car" in United States. But if google ads keyword planner's location was in United Kingdom then there show only United Kingdom's search volume for this specific keyword. Which can create a disgusting situation for you. 


Language: Language is also an important factor. Because if your targeting audience is using the English language but at google ads keyword planner, if fixed there Hindi language then you wouldn't get the proper result. So it is too much important to fix your targeting language.


Time: Now I am discussing the time range. It is very important to select your time range and analyze your keyword. Suppose you now you are searching for a keyword whose search volume is very high before 3 months but now this keyword is dead. Now if you can't check your keyword by fixing recent times then you don't get the proper result. So you need also to analyze at a different time to get the proper result. 


Save your data: Here I say how you save your research data so that when you cut the tab your research data will save. You will see a download arrow sign click on this. Then there will show two options for downloading this data one .csv and other google sheets. If you think it is preferable for you, you can download it on this mode.
